If you are interested in conducting audits, other engagements, and activities throughout the Department of Transportation (Department), as well as of corporations and other entities that provide professional services to the Department or receive funding from or through it then the Department of Transportation wants to talk to you.
This is entry level work as part of a one year training program designed to develop technical competence to conduct audits, attestation engagements, and professional non-audit services throughout the Department of Transportation (Department), as well as corporations and other entities that provide professional services to the Department or receive grant funding from or through the Department, also to develop technical competence to perform reviews of financial information of entities doing business with the Commonwealth, including pre-qualifications, pre-awards, and overheads.
The trainee’s work activity involves assisting in the preparation of work papers, permanent files and audit programs as well as conducting assigned audit testing in accordance with the standards for professional practice as promulgated by the United States General Accounting Office, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Accounting Standards Board and other auditing practices generally accepted by governmental audit agencies.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- This is a travel position. Overnight travel is required. Travel expenses will be paid.
- The position will be headquartered in a District or County office in Centre or a contiguous county closest to the selected candidate’s home that meets business needs and has available space.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree including twelve (12) credits in accounting; OR
- Four years of experience in bookkeeping work which included twelve (12) credits in accounting; OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes twelve (12) credits in accounting.
