The Job
Working as part of the Exploration Field Team, primarily responsible for helping reclamation of forest trenches, lay down brush, regenerate the forest, camp building, camp reclamation in a safe operating manner.
Swamping is also required where you are removing brush and trees out of the way.
They will also be responsible for the daily use and maintenance of all chainsaw equipment and any other machinery related as needed.
The Field Assistant will also be required to assist any member of the Geology crew as and when needed.
Employment Type: Seasonal Full-Time
Safety:
- Required to wear and maintain all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe worksite.
- Responsible to work competently, safely and professionally at all times – in the field, in camp
- and in transit.
- Attend and contribute in daily crew safety meetings, after shift debriefs, as well as all camp safety meetings and knowing and understanding Emergency Response Plans (ERP).
Work and Camp Living Environment
Drill teams require individuals to work and live in close quarters to one another for 28 days at a time, working 12-hour days (project dependent). Accommodations are generally wall-tent or a similar structure with a cook, shower, wireless internet and all other camp elements. Camps are set up in remote locations, in close proximity to where GroundTruth is performing the drilling. Travel to job locations can be a variety of methods such as ATV, truck, helicopter, boat, snowmobile, and walking.
As the Right Candidate You:
- Are a competent and safe chainsaw operator
- Comfortable working alone and with a team
- Willing to learn and follow instructions
- You have an excellent attitude; a don’t-give-up mentality; and thrive on challenging yourself physically and mentally.
- Able to or plan to obtain First Aid Certification CPR Level C & AED *this is a requirement of employment
- Have a mechanical background
- Are physically fit and capable of performing repetitive tasks
- You have a sense of adventure, enjoy working and living outdoors in a remote environment and rustic conditions.
- Chainsaw Safety Certification will be considered an asset
