Introduction
Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Shift Supervisor Mining to be placed in Venetia Mine, near Musina Limpopo. The successful candidate will report to the Mine Overseer. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
• Installation of service infrastructure
- Safe achievement of production and quality targets in line with DMR, M&RC and client requirements
- Accurate, timely administration and record keeping
- Competent, motivated and positive team
- Stakeholder engagement
- Section compliance with SHEQ and M&RC and client standards, policies and procedures
- Cost containment
- Effective self-management and alignment with M&RC 1st Choice values and leadership initiatives

- Ancillary excavations
- Shaft operational and logistics management
- Operational co-ordination of labour
- Risk management and Safety management
- Financial and budget management
- Client relationship management
Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent- Blasting Certificate of Competency
- Recognised Shift Supervisor Certificate
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Medical Certificate of Fitness
- Communication skills in English
- Sound planning, co-ordination and monitoring skills
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
3 years’ experience in an underground mining environment as a Miner- Exposure to acting as a Shift Supervisor would be advantageous
- Mining, sinking, development, stoping and Timberman experience (Preferred)
- Knowledge of SHEQ standards and requirements
